Required application components

  • Application Fee ($80) or Fee Waiver
  • Common App
  • Dartmouth Writing Supplement – these are various questions you should respond to in written form within your application; they are designed to help the admissions team see if you and Dartmouth would be a good fit for each other
  • Secondary School Report with Transcript, School Profile, and Counselor Evaluation – this helps Dartmouth gain an understanding of your academic record. The form can be submitted via the Common Application. The school profile is what gives information about the school grading system, student body, etc. Your secondary school report should also include a recommendation from your school counselor or other school official which addresses your academic performance, character, activities, etc.
  • Evaluations from two of your teachers
  • SAT or ACT exams

For international students...

TOEFL or IELTS or the Duolingo English Test or Cambridge C1/C2 are required for international students if English isn’t your first language or the language of instruction at your school.

Peer recommendation - not required, yet strongly recommended

This recommendation is not required, yet it will help the admission officers get to know you from another perspective. You can ask a teammate, classmate, sibling, co-worker, etc. You can invite your peer to submit the recommendation through the Common App.
