Requirements you need to follow when applying:

  • Common Application and Apply Coalition with Scoir are both acceptable options 
  • Official secondary school transcript and school report
  • One recommendation from your counselor 
  • Оne or more recommendations from your teachers 
  • SAT or ACT exam scores 
  • If your native language isn’t English, and if English hasn’t been the main language of instruction at your high school, you have to submit an English proficiency test score – it can be either the Duolingo English Test (DET), IELTS (including IELTS Indicator), or the TOEFL iBT (including TOEFL iBT Special Home Edition)
  •  $75 application fee which isn’t refundable even though you could request a fee waiver if paying the fee would be a problem for you financially
  • Early Decision Agreement – keep in mind that this is only if you are applying for Early Decision
  • Midyear transcript with your grades 
  • Bienen School Supplement – this is necessary only for those who want to apply to the School of Music 

Financial aid

Northwestern University’s website has detailed instruction and description on the topic of tuition and financial aid. Something to keep in mind is that all first-year students are required to live on campus for the first two years of their education.
