1. Choose an Application Platform
You can apply to Duke through either:
- Common Application: A widely used platform for college applications.
- Coalition Application: Designed to support students from diverse backgrounds.
Both platforms let you showcase your achievements, interests, and potential, so choose the one that suits you best.
2. Showcase Yourself
Option 1: Duke-Specific Questions
Short Required Essay: You should explain why Duke is a good match for you and what attracts you to their offerings. Talks about your passions, academic interests, or a meaningful experience. Be genuine and let your personality shine.
Option 2: Optional Essays and Recommendations
-Use your essays and recommendation letters to give a deeper look at your character and potential:
Essays: Reflect on your values, goals, or unique experiences. Write authentically about what matters most to you.
Teacher Recommendations: Provide two recommendations from teachers who know your academic abilities and personality. These letters offer insight into your strengths and fit for Duke.
3. Participate in an Alumni Interview
If available, Duke arranges alumni interviews for applicants:

Submit a Glimpse video (U.S. students)
Arrange an InitialView interview (international students)
Optional Personal Recommendations can also be submitted through Common App, Coalition App, email, fax, or mail.
4. Submit Required Documents
Secondary School Report: Submitted by your school counselor, including your transcript.
Teacher Recommendations: Two letters from teachers familiar with your academic abilities.
Standardized Test Scores (Optional): SAT/ACT scores are optional for 2024-2025 admissions. More info
