Stanford University’s application process includes:

1. Choose an Application Platform

Start your journey by selecting either:

Common Application: A popular platform for applying to multiple colleges.

Coalition Application: Focused on access and affordability for diverse students.

Both platforms are treated equally by Stanford, so choose the one that works best for you.

2. Complete Stanford-Specific Questions

Short Essays:

Stanford asks thought-provoking questions designed to help them understand your personality, interests, and aspirations. Examples might include:

What historical moment or event do you wish you could have witnessed?

Write a note to your future roommate that reveals something about you or that will help your roommate—and us—get to know you better.

These essays are a chance to showcase your creativity, authenticity, and passion.

Extracurricular and Leadership Details:

Highlight clubs, organizations, or leadership roles where you made an impact.

Share any independent research, projects, or unique academic efforts that set you apart.

3. Submit Required Documents

School Report and Transcript:
Your counselor will upload your high school transcript and a school profile through the application portal.
Teacher Recommendations:
Submit two recommendations from teachers in core academic subjects (e.g., English, math, science).
These should highlight your intellectual curiosity, work ethic, and personal qualities.
Standardized Test Scores (Optional):
SAT or ACT scores are optional for the 2024-2025 admissions cycle. If submitted, they will be considered as part of your application.

4. Application Fee

The application fee is $90.
Fee waivers are available for students who require financial need. Request this directly in your application

5. Optional Interview

If offered, an alumni interview provides a unique opportunity to share your goals and ask questions about Stanford.
These interviews are conversational and allow alumni to provide additional context about you as an applicant.
